FII DII Data and Market Setup

Provisional NSE figures for 4 November 2026 show FIIs bought Rs 7,284 crore net in the cash market, their fourth straight day of buying. Over those four sessions (30 October to 4 November), FII net purchases add up to about Rs 20,855 crore. DIIs went the other way and sold a net Rs 3,712 crore, which suggests domestic funds booked some profit into the rally. Full rows are on our FII DII data today page.

Our FII Market Setup for 4 November reads Strong Buying. This label means FIIs were buyers in cash and also added net long positions in index futures on the same day (a net change of +16,778 index futures contracts). When both point the same way, foreign investors are backing the move with fresh positions.

The bigger picture is still mixed. Across the last 30 sessions (22 September to 4 November), FIIs sold a net Rs 64,299 crore and DIIs bought Rs 91,169 crore, a DII absorption of 142%. FIIs were net sellers on 20 of those 30 days, so the recent buying is a turn, not yet a trend. Global Cues

The main overnight driver was the US midterm result, with Democrats taking majorities in both the House and the Senate. Wall Street read the result as positive on Wednesday: the Dow gained 3.03%, its best day of the year, while the S&P 500 added 1.58% and the Nasdaq Composite rose 1.44%. US crude fell more than 8% in the same session, and the 10-year Treasury yield eased to around 4.84% to 4.86%.

Asia is less upbeat. South Korea’s Kospi opened about 2% lower and extended the fall to roughly 4.5%, as technology and AI-linked stocks fell. Japan’s Nikkei is slightly lower, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is higher. For India, cheaper oil and a softer dollar are the two cues that matter most, since both ease pressure on the import bill and the rupee.

Nifty and Bank Nifty Levels to Watch

These are objective reference points from recent sessions, not trading calls.

  • Nifty 50: previous close and day high 23,960.60 (it closed at the high on 4 November); 3 November close 23,810.85; round numbers 24,000 and 24,500.
  • Bank Nifty: previous close 55,913.60; round numbers 56,000 and 55,500.

Events Today

  • Results: Titan Company, a Nifty 50 stock, is scheduled to announce its September-quarter results today (DSIJ).
  • Expiry and holidays: there is no Nifty expiry today. The next weekly Nifty expiry moves to Monday, 9 November, because markets are shut on Tuesday, 10 November for Diwali Balipratipada. Muhurat Trading takes place on Sunday, 8 November, from 2:20 PM to 3:30 PM. See the FII DII calendar for the full list.

The Bottom Line

The cues indicate a firm start, helped by the Wall Street rally, lower oil and four days of FII cash buying. Still, the Kospi slide shows global tech risk has not gone away, and Nifty is already up five sessions in a row, so some profit-taking after the open would not be unusual. Watch whether FIIs keep buying in today’s provisional data, released around 6 PM IST.
