What is FII and DII F&O Data?

FII stands for Foreign Institutional Investors (now officially FPIs), such as overseas funds and banks that trade in Indian markets. DII means Domestic Institutional Investors such as mutual funds, insurance companies and banks. NSE also reports Pro (brokers trading their own money) and Client (retail and other non-institutional traders).

Every trading day, NSE publishes how many long and short contracts each group holds in index futures, index calls and index puts. The day’s change in these numbers is what we call FII DII F&O data.
