FII DII Data and Market Setup
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought a net Rs 4,240 crore of Indian shares in the cash market on Tuesday, 27 October 2026. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were net sellers of Rs 1,250 crore. It was the largest FII net purchase in the last 30 sessions and the biggest since 2 September.
Our FII Market Setup for 27 October reads Strong Buying. This label means FIIs did two things on the same day: they bought in cash and they added net long positions in index futures (+56,048 contracts). When both point the same way, the signal is stronger than a cash buy alone. You can see the full futures and options positions on our FII DII F&O data page.
One day does not change the larger trend. Over the last 30 sessions (11 September to 27 October), FIIs sold a net Rs 94,209 crore and were sellers on 24 of the 30 days. DIIs bought Rs 1,13,480 crore in the same period, which is a DII absorption of 120%. In simple terms, domestic funds bought more than FIIs sold. Global Cues
Wall Street ended Tuesday mostly higher. The Nasdaq rose 1.18% to 26,477.81 as technology stocks led, the S&P 500 gained 0.60% and the Dow was nearly flat. In Asia this morning, South Korea’s Kospi surged close to 6% and Japan’s Nikkei rose more than 1%, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was little changed.
Oil is the main worry for India. Brent climbed to about $115.6 to $115.9 a barrel after Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis said on Tuesday they had hit Saudi Arabia’s largest refinery with a missile. Saudi authorities had not confirmed the strike at the time of the reports. Higher crude raises India’s import bill and can pressure the rupee, which is trading near 95.1 to 95.2 per dollar. The US 10-year yield is near 5%, and the dollar index is steady above 102. To see how foreign flows have tracked the index, check our FII flow vs Nifty chart.

The Bottom Line
The morning cues lean negative because of higher oil prices and a weaker GIFT Nifty, while Tuesday’s strong FII buying and firm Asian markets give some balance. With the Fed decision due tonight and a large listing and key results during the day, a cautious, range-bound session would not be unusual.
